Even though most machines accept electronic payments now, they still take cash.
Yet, you rarely hear about people breaking into them to steal money or drinks.
That’s one big reason why vending machines can be placed almost anywhere in Japan even on quiet streets.
That’s really different from other countries!
In Sweden, we’d probably be worried about vandalism or theft if machines were left like that.
No one tries to steal from them?
That’s like vending machine paradise!
Also, you’ll often see a trash bin right next to the vending machine for throwing away empty bottles or cans.
And surprisingly, they’re rarely overflowing or messy.
I’ve noticed that!
People here really follow the rules and keep the area clean. It’s impressive.
So even the trash gets treated with respect!
Japan’s vending machines live such a good life!
It’s because everyone follows these unspoken rules that things like this are possible.
So Pecco, make sure to throw your trash in the bin when you use a vending machine too!
