JAPAN IN
ONE MINUTE
~Variety, Hot & Cold Drinks, 24/7 Service~
When you’re walking around and feeling thirsty in Japan,
you don’t always need to find a convenience store or go into a cafe.
Vending machines are super convenient options.
They’re everywhere like at train stations, airports, office buildings, hospitals, parks, schools, and even just along regular streets. It’s actually hard to not find one. That’s how common they are.
I was so surprised the first time I came to Japan! It’s unusual in Sweden.
And they even have hot drinks in winter! That was totally new for me.
There’s even warm soup in cans!
I didn’t know vending machines could be so kind!
One of the best things about them is the incredible variety of drinks.
Of course, you’ll find the usual coke and fruit juices, but also many kinds of green tea, regular tea, mineral water, sports drinks, and all kinds of coffee like canned, bottled, black, sweetened… you name it!
And the prices are usually just 10 to 20% higher than in a supermarket, so it’s still quite affordable.
Yeah, I really noticed that! I didn’t expect so many different types of tea and coffee.
I found a matcha latte before and it was very tasty!
Matcha latte!? That sounds like a luxury cafe in a machine!
And many machines offer both hot and cold drinks at the same time.
Even in summer, you can find warm green tea, hot coffee, even corn soup.
Imagine being cold after sitting in an air-conditioned office all day.
A hot drink from a nearby vending machine can be a real comfort.
And the machines never sleep, right?
They work 24/7, all year round, quietly supporting our everyday lives!
Corn soup blew my mind!
It felt so strange at first to get soup from a vending machine… but it was actually really tasty.
Soup that comes out warm and ready to drink?
Japanese vending machines really are magical…
Oh, and some of the newer vending machines even have security cameras now.
The footage is shared with the police and helps prevent crime especially in quiet or dark areas.
Wow, that explains why vending machines can be placed even in lonely spots and still be safe.
The whole system is so well thought out.
Summary
Japanese vending machines are everywhere, offering many kinds of hot and cold drinks 24/7 for everyday convenience.
